What is WMA?

Weighted Moving Average gives more weight to recent prices, making it more responsive than SMA. Older prices have progressively less impact.

Parameters (20-period)

  • Linear weights: Most recent = highest
  • 20 periods: Standard lookback
  • Responsive: Faster than SMA

Interpretation

  • Bullish: Price above rising WMA
  • Bearish: Price below falling WMA
  • Crossover: Price crosses WMA

Trading Signals

  • Buy: Price crosses above WMA
  • Sell: Price crosses below WMA
  • More weight on recent data
