What is VOLMA?

Volume Moving Average (20) smooths volume data to show the average trading activity. Spikes above the average indicate unusual interest, while dips below suggest low participation.

  • X-Axis: Time (candle intervals)
  • Y-Axis: Volume MA (auto-scaled, min 0)
  • Line: VOLMA(20) smoothed volume

Interpretation

  • Rising VOLMA = increasing market interest
  • Falling VOLMA = decreasing activity
  • Price breakout + high VOLMA = strong move
  • Data refreshes periodically — not real-time

Trading Signals

  • Up-moves on above-average volume = conviction behind the move
  • Breakouts on below-average volume = suspect, prone to failure
  • Rising volume MA = growing participation in the trend

  • Volume expansion + price breakout = high conviction
  • Volume contraction + price trending = low conviction
  • Volume spike + price reversal = climax/capitulation
